Leaders' Wives

via www.dailymail.co.uk

This is the wife of one of our political leaders.

These photos are a decade old.

This was front page news yesterday.

I despair of political debate in this country sometimes.

QotD: License to Drive

Do you consider yourself a good driver? How many tickets have you received? What were they for?

I've received a grant total of two tickets in my life - both for going down bus lanes by accident. That's not bad.

Good driver? I'm a fine driver. I've been in a couple of actual car crashes, but I can say with my hand on my heart neither of them were my fault. I have driven a lot over the last few years, and my ratio of miles to incidents is pretty damn good.

London Snow Mini-Retrospective

The snow in London passed almost without acknowledgement here. Time to change that a little.

And here's how it looked around where Rev Stan and I work:

Back Down to Mile End

Pulp Mile End Music Video Edit With Lyrics Jarvis Cocker Trainspotting London
Youch. Here's a trip down memory lane, courtesy of Bookmole. This is a video of photographs of Mile End set to Pulp's Mile End.

I lived in Mile End, not far from the station, in 1993 - 1994. This really brings back some memories - very few of them good.

QotD: The Name Game

Were you named after anyone? If not, how did you get your name?

I was, in a way. My parents were struggling to find a name for me, until my Dad was driving home one evening, with the radio on, and The Archers came on. There was a young child on the show then, called Adam. Dad thought "ah-ha" - and that's how I got my name.

The character is still in the show, believe it or not.

Adam, scandalous back then as an illegitimate son, is now fighting the progressive battle as the first gay character to get married to his boyfriend in the show. Adam, a farmer, and Ian, a chef, have been happily married for years…

Dreary, Snowy, Lewisham

Lewisham in the snow

Lewisham still manages to look dreary even on a snowy morning. What is it with this town?

On Objects and Memories

An important lesson to learn when you're still dealing with the posessions from your late parents' house:

The hardest part of decluttering is remembering that the objects are simply representations of the memories, not the memories themselves

Sometimes it's hard to make that separation.

My brother and his wife were kind enough to but me a new standard zoom for Christmas, a lens I've been putting through its paces over the last few days. Expect quite a few photographs on here over the coming days...

Three slightly ropey photos from my birthday meal at Jamie's Italian in Guildford. The iPhone doesn't handle low light that well, does it?
Fab food though, and a deeply awesome present from Mark & Jo.
More on that later…
