I have spent the last 20 years of my career endlessly campaigning for the journalism business to take the idea of community-building around its journalism seriously.
Now it’s finally, finally happening I should feel vindicated and celebratory. But largely I just feel tired.
The downside of falling behind with your email:
“Wow, that looks like an interesting event. I must book. Let’s see, when is it…? Oh. Two weeks ago.”

Oh, yikes. The home office iMac won’t get macOS 26. Somehow it’s still “my new iMac”, but it’s five years old now…
Time to start putting the money aside for a Mac Mini and a decent 5k screen.
A new look for One Man & His Blog.
The old theme was feeling dated, and isn’t being updated for new Ghost features, as far as I can tell. So, for now, one of the default Ghost themes has take its place. Some tweaking is likely in the coming weeks…

Here’s @ayjay pointing out the major flaw in one of the weaker arguments for AI:
A useful mental exercise: when people say “AI isn’t going anywhere” or “AI is here to stay,” substitute for “AI” the word “cancer.” A great many things that are here to stay are really bad and should be resisted as energetically as possible
