Campfire reading.

Currently reading: Coasting by Elise Downing 📚

Night in the woods.

A view of stars through trees.

Currently reading: Mistletoe Winter by Roy Dennis 📚

Such a melancholy book. It’s absolutely bursting with Roy’s joy in nature, and his knowledge of it. But his awareness of the climate crisis ever hovers in the background, like Banquo’s ghost.

Apparently I’m in the mood for photographing sunflowers at the moment.

Lovely light on the Adur this afternoon.

A field near Petworth in the heart of the English summer.

The more we learn about the Warner Bros Discovery / Batgirl mess, the weirder it seems.

A long dive into the current and future fortunes of the tarnished newsletter platform Substack. The easy ride is over. These are the hard yards.

Wow. Tinder’s a decade old.

It’s been two decades since I dated, (happily married!) and the landscape has changed out of all recognition in that time.

But is it for the better?

Took me a while to adjust to vegan burgers, but I’m really enjoying them now. A fine example from the pub this evening.

Summer’s not over while the sunflowers still look this good.

Sunflowers at Spring Gardens Nursery.

My eldest, playing an iPad game: “10pm is about the time a grown-up goes to sleep.”

My wife and I: “In our dreams.”

Looks like there’s urgent security updates out for all the major Apple platforms this evening. Updateapaloza ahead.

A few images from the beginning of our holiday two weeks ago: Wightlink to the Isle of Wight, and setting up at the campsite outside Sandown. Oh, and charging the car off the electrical hookup on the campsite. 🚙 ⚡️ 👍🏻

I am faintly baffled as to why anyone would think that I’d like to run a piece about going commando on OM&HB. And yes, it’s “commando” as in “no underwear”.

I suppose it’s just someone blasting out them to a mailing list indiscriminately, and hoping for the best.

Hwæt!

I think it would be fair to say that my teenage record buying was not cool.

Singles of Doctor in Distress by Who Cares and Star Trekkin' by The Firm.

My youngest is enjoying a trip to the local Lidl far too much.

Finished reading: The Earth Beneath My Feet by Andrew Terrill 📚

Quite a remarkable book. It takes you deep into the highs and lows of an epic - and probably deeply unwise - hiking adventure.

Last early morning trip to the swimming pool before the Autumn. Rewarded with some lovely views.
